How do I determine which size Easy-Stop will work with my windows?
1/2” or 3/8” are the two most common sizes.
To determine the size needed, measure the width of your existing parting stop.  (See photos below)

Both the 1/2” and 3/8” kits will weather-strip a window with a maximum height of 80” and a maximum width of 42”. The old parting stops must be removable.

A sample kit is available from Advanced Repair Technology. The sample kit includes 5” sample pieces of the ½” and 3/8” Easy-Stop as well as samples of the barbed pile and silicone flap. This sample kit is $10. A sample kit can be purchased from our
On-line store or by calling 607-264-9040.

Does the Easy-Stop System eliminate the need to use counter-balances?
The Easy-Stop System does improve the operation of the window sash; however it does not act as a counter-balance for sash.

Can the Easy-Stop material be painted or stained?
Yes, the Easy-Stop is made of cellular PVC, more stable and decay resistant than wood. When staining, we recommend a semi-solid stain. Follow the paint manufacturer’s recommendation for painting bare wood surfaces.

Is Easy-Stop suitable for historic restoration?
Yes!  The patented Easy-Stop System was designed to protect all the historic details of a wood window. Easy-Stop has been used on historic projects throughout the United States.

How long does it take to install the Easy-Stop System?
The Easy-Stop System is quicker and easier to install then conventional metal or vinyl weather-stripping. An experienced installer should be able to complete the installation in less than an hour.

What special tools are required?
Besides a hammer, saw, tape measure and perhaps a hand plane; the only special tool will a slot cutting router-bit with bearing ( 1/8” by 3/8” ) and a router. Slot may also be made on a table saw.

Where can I get the Easy-Stop?
Currently The Easy-Stop System is only available direct from Advanced Repair Technology. It can be ordered from our
On-Line Store or by calling 607-264-9040.

The 1/2” and 3/8” will not work with my windows, do I have another option?
Yes, we can make custom size kits to fit your windows or make suggestions on how to improve the condition of your existing windows. Just contact us at 607-264-9040 or email us.

I live in California and have 3/8" windows with parting stops, but your 3/8" window kit does include this piece.  Do I have another option?
Yes, we have noticed that our customers in California often require this parting stop so we have created a 3/8" kit which includes the parting stop in place of one of the silicon flaps.  This 3/8" California Kit is now available.

Is the barbed-pile and silicon flap used with the Easy-Stop system available separately?
Yes, the barbed-pile and silicon flap are available in 25', 50', and 100' rolls.  Also, the barbed-pile is available in two different heights; 1/8" and 1/4".  For prices, visit our Pricing Page.
